Smashburger itself is an underwhelming restaurant.

It failed because it’s next to CFA and Cane’s. It’s pulling out of Jefferson/Corporate too.

GGP is a pretty big company. So is Brookfield.

If a leasing agent lied, I'm guessing it was a rogue deal.

Good one. The mall is owned by a company based in Chicago.

If you can't make it in a food court, and the one next to busy Corporate/Towne Center can't make it either, something tells me Smashburger has bigger problems than that. They must be struggling big time nationwide.
Hamburger market is a tough business these days.
The competition between Mooyah, Smashburger, Five Guys, etc on top of local competition Burgersmith and Fat Cow and eventually the new sliders concept Small SLiders from the Walk On guys, I can see where some of these places will start closing.
The Mooyah closed on Lee Drive.

I am sure if smashburger was killing it at the mall, they wouldn't be saying anything.

But... still... if they were lied to, they were lied to.
