he plane being shot down yesterday is a direct result of our foreign policy. Putin has called our bluff to the point that he is not afraid of this administration. Until something is done which will adversely impact him, we will continue to create havoc in the region. Yes, the missile was not intended to shoot down a commercial plane....but our administration's continued policy of not doing JACK shite to stop him set up the events that occcured yesterday.
Dude take off the tin foil hat.

Nah, just watching the world fall apart. I think if WW3 happens in my lifetime, depending on the outcome..if its mass world destruction, I wouldn't put anything past a leader or desperate citizens wanting to rebuild the world.
We live in a time when planes are being shot down for nothing or crashed into buildings. I just wonder what it's going to take to be the last straw.

The political debate is ruining the OT........
Period.
I avoid the poli board due to the lemmings there. They seem to be migrating here.

Or particularly surprising considering
A) Passenger jets have been shot down before
B) We've only been flying for a little over 100 years, and I'm sure if they could have been shot down before, they would have.
Nothing to be particularly alarmed about. Everyone just thinks their time on Earth is somehow more special (in whatever regard) to some other time.

We are actually currently in the most peacful time in history. LINK
And its not just war, but all violent deaths LINK In 14th century England, some cities had a homicide rate as high as 110 per 100,000 citizens. London's homicide rate in 2012 was just under 1 per 100,000.
The media is reporting spikes in Chicago gun violence, despite the fact that Chicago gun violence is actually down. LINK

Yeah this is the longest stretch without a major war in Europe in.. Ever.. I think.
Those talking about WW3.. It won't happen in Europe. That's clearly going to be a Middle East theater.

Thats a ways off then. Could anyone in the middle east really oppose any developed country?

Nuclear weapons are the big equalizer. Hell, depending on the way the wind is blowing, you don't even have to be involved or even remotely near the area of conflict to be affected.

Currently in a time where man's own creation of sophisticated weapons could literally destroy life as we've come to know it on the world a few times over.

Absolutely, but Iran is still without them one would assume. Pakistan has them, but Pakistan seems more like the high guy sitting around that doesn't give a shite.
