Disagree, I think being too conservative is hurting everyone more than the actual sickness at this point.

So we should be going out and putting ourselves at risk of catching or spreading when we don't have to?

Is that what I said? I'm pretty sure that's not what I said. If you made it to the second part of my post I basically said use common sense. The fear is hurting this country more than the sickness at this point.

What do you think should be done differently to lessen the fear?

You responded to me saying its not time to party with I disagree. Going out to party would pbe putting yourselves and others at an unnecessary risk.

If people would hold their dick in their pants for just a few more weeks until it peaks off then cases stop being reported then we can have plenty of bourbon st nights again. The idiots in NO right now are going to ruin it for all of SE LA.

You contain now and suffer for the short term so you don't suffer long term damage. They should lock NO down tomorrow for going full retard.

Unless you live in a bubble you've been exposed to pathogens every day of your life. Anything and everything can kill you. Cringy incoming: I'm afraid of living in fear. I hate to see the status quo turned on it's ear.

I'm of the opinion that our fear is doing more damage than the virus.

Sorry for the derail OP.

If everyone would follow recommendations correctly then we'd be out of this mess in a few weeks. Short term damage. Running around with thousands in an area can make you end up like Italy before you know it.

The countries who were proactive on this virus ended up laughing at everyone else. Taiwan sits basically right by mainland China and they destroyed the virus because they took steps months before it started to move around the rest of the world. Japan has a massive population of everyone sitting on top of each other. Nothing but crowds but they're not dumb and regularly practice great hygiene so they never really had a high run on cases which is kinda shocking when you consider the hugely populated areas they have.

All so a bunch of shitheads can go get their pecker wet on St. Patty. Selfish dicks. Keep the trash off the Northshore please. Lock the Causeway down. When the NO residents are rolling around in their bed in pain go hit NO's ICU rooms because St. Tammany doesn't need it right now. The healthcare staff stress are at a high.

Very true. I'm not here trying to preach reckless abandon. I wholeheartedly believe we should exercise caution. I think we just disagree on the amount.

Exactly. Because people are too stupid to exercise a little discipline and stay at home, their hands will have to be forced.

Expect a closing and/or temporary suspension of the ability to serve alcohol in bars sometime in the next 24-48 hours.

I think it is going to be the worst here and in New York. We are going to see a big spike in deaths this week and shutdown by midweek. As a hotspot, it’s unfortunately going to take 8 weeks to really stop it.

You really get to see people's priorities in times like this

Some just want to keep NOLA's reputation as a party destination going at all costs, community spread be damned.

frick the government for even trying to curb or limit a possible catastrophic outbreak here.

Flatten the curve? Oh no, some motheruckers just want to fatten the curve all for the sake of st. Patty's

And then they won't hesitate one second blaming the spread on the mayor.
