The old school geologists were pretty terrible at theirs jobs. The new blood that graduates now a days knows more/better techniques

The geology of the earth hasn't changed all that much but the technology we've developed to analyze, interpret it and to manipulate it has changed drastically.

So I wouldn't necessarily say the geologist are all that smarter.

exactly. the technology is so different from the 70s. just look at how we steer the bit now or all the sensors we can use to tell porosity, mineral makeup, radiation. its incredible

I'm including EOR.

EOR in shale? I'm not on the enginerd side, but what technique are you thinking of?

I've always understood the rock porosity is too low to do any traditional gas/water/co2 flood.

I assume once the GTL facilities are up and running, NG prices will rise when the exports begin.

Do you mean LNG or GTL?

Don't expect any GTL facilities in the U.S. for a long time. With oil prices unlikely to go above $60/bbl in the near future, the economics don't support it.

Also as more LNG facilities go online there will be (some) upward pressure on NG prices, flipping those economics. Add in more environmental regulations which force NG fired power plants...... the outlook isn't great for GTL in the U.S.

Yes, sorry, LNG.

Most of the LNG will be going to Europe, correct?

which is why we should make the move to CNG/LNG as much as we can

I haven't been in the loop in the last year. Depresses me when I think about the fact I only needed 8 more years and I would have been able to do my own thing.
