The problem with this is there are multiple extinction events and most of them don't coincide with major tectonic collisions. 
The collisions were not quick time events. Look how massive the plate movement off the sw coast of Sumatra was, but it didn't change 'rocks' even though there was a major wrench fault movement.

There are more than one factor. Volcanos. Asteroids. And apparently tectonics.

Do notice the one sentence at link that says we humans have warmed Earth in 100 years.

Ignore that and focus on variables with million of years to operate.

So we just need to expose a billion acres of the Earth's mantle to counteract the truck nuts.

I say we plow over Mexico and the Australian Outback.

What is the thickness of the Earth's crust, just like 20 miles deep? I've got a some friends with a bulldozer company that could get started right away.
