He earns the money. He's not taking anything. He provides me with the time to do the things I enjoy doing at an extremely reasonable price. He also does all the landscaping and changing out the plants and flowers seasonally. Lots of folks love doing that sort of thing. I do not, but I like looking at it all and cutting flowers, picking citrus, herbs, tomatoes etc... Works great for me and for him.

Yes it is.

I agree with this. I suck at doing that stuff.

I just can’t imagine caring about something so trivial.

Out of curiosity, how much did your mower, weed eater, edger, and blower cost? And how much in gas every month?

Sun’s up, blades down. Real adults are up on Saturdays getting shite done. If they’re not, I really don’t give a shite what they think.

Total for all 3, about $700. Have had them for several years. Gas, maybe $20 a summer. Might be a little more now with higher gas prices.
My yard is pretty plain so it is very easy to do.

~$5,000 in equipment then an average of under $100 per month for fuel, oil and blades. That's for 4 acres.

I completely understand this for other folks. Cooking and other things are extremely therapeutic for me, so I get that.

My yard guy charges $40 per job to mow, weed eat, edge, and blow. He comes every two weeks during cutting season. So it would take me nearly two years just to break even on your supplies, even if I put zero value on my time.
For people who enjoy it, by all means. But I will never understand people pretend as though a lawn service is a "waste of money". It's probably one of the best returns on investment when it comes to time saved.

That's great. I want to cook more.

Some folks work nights. Also, it's just common courtesy not to do loud things in the early mornings on weekends.

When my kids are older, I’ll probably hire it out. For now, not only do I enjoy it, but I also enjoy a couple of hours by myself on the weekend.

That's a really good price. Looking around $500 a year for that. The yard at my old house had to be done weekly, no way that would be more economical. My yard now is every two weeks.

I guess it's different when you actually enjoy doing it.

That’s definitely a rookie mistake… you’ll learn i start up front and back gets done every 2nd or 3rd time… fronts the curb appeal or they say.
Also push mower up front cuts taller grass &better lines, riding in the back.

Hire a yard guy and you'll have more time to do that. (Sorry, but I couldn't resist that!)
Visit the food board. I've learned a lot from it.

Touche'. I still have plenty of time to cook, just haven't done it.

Mine does it for $30 and my yard has a lot of stuff in it like ground cover, shrubs, trees etc... It's nearly an acre. His guys even get on the roof and blow off the leaves periodically.

Damn, I can see why you get it done now. That's cheap.

When you feel like it, take a look at the TD Recipe Book in the stickied thread. Those are all recipes that someone else has made before.
Even the WFDT thread at night gives folks ideas on different meals.
Some folks don't enjoy cooking and I get that, too.
