In excess...but so is water. I don't track sodium but definitely feel if I'm low or too high when it comes to water retention or even how I feel during workouts or runs. Obviously some people have a higher predisposition to some of the effects of higher sodium intake, so definitely do you and what fits your needs. If we are discussing the American diet as a whole, then yeah the ridiculous amount of sodium and sugar most Americans intake daily is probably as sad as their fiber and protein deficiencies in their diet.
