You don't need to explain. Everyone has their own strategy.
I generally respect anyone (including SS) who overcomes their demons.
We all make poor choices, some purposely. Some just aren't open about it.

If I lose work I lose work.
I am more concerned with my personal well-being, and that is mental health which lets me live a happy life. It will probably slow down, but it is helpful through stressful times.
Weighed it out, does more good than harm, for now.
