My wife, daughters and I were at Keeneland horse track once during just a training/warmup... Right on the rail, to hear just a couple of horses thundering down the straightaway is hair raising... There was no crowd noise... It was amazing.
And we've been there when races were going on, and there was enough crowd noise that you couldn't hear or feel the horses as much. that was still cool but it was even better when there was nobody there.
