I read an article once that explained that a lot of old ladies do this. They feel like it is their own personal recipe and, if asked to give it out, they give out 90% of it.

I don't think it is a mean thing. I think it was explained as a territorial thing. Who knows?

I was also taught that sugar in the red sauce took the acid levels down a bit.
