Don’t care. I’m sticking with what my grandmother taught me. No soap in the cast iron.

What would Lodge know about cast iron cookware?

Their newer stuff is so inferior to older cast iron though...

At what date is the cast iron considered older? I have never used any from this century.

That's true, and I'm always looking for the really old cast iron for sale at garage sales, etc. But it's complicated and you have to make sure you're buying the right stuff. That being said, Lodge still has really good cast iron.

And I bought a set of porcelain plated cast iron. Have had it for over a year, still never used it once.

Older than 20 years.

I've been doing it for many years. I don't use a lot. The key is to scrub, remove, dry. Don't let it soak.

Then, stick it on the stovetop, put burner on high, ensure all the liquid is heated out of the pot, and rub a layer of oil on it after it cools.

That’s how my great great great grandparents taught me

I really, really wish they, or any of the succeeding generations, would have been impotent.

From what I know, the cast iron process changed around 1957. So generally speaking, if you get something manufactured prior to that, it's vintage and the really good stuff.

The non cooks are rearing their ugly heads.

Cast iron is awesome, and easier to hand clean than other pots. Holds even heat like no other pot. I can cook so many things so much better in cast iron.

And did you not read??? You can disinfect it with soap, da.

Aspy, not at all.

You're a failure for wearing cowboy boots and overalls.
