Turned down a margarita at my favorite spot friday. Sometimes there are just more important things to focus on, and being there for my son, in a healthy manner, is important to me.
My dad was an alcoholic who missed my HS graduation because he he hit a cop in Natchitoches when he was out driving drunk. Mom never told me until I was almost 23 and hadn't heard from my dad in years. He was supposed to be there and I thought it was just like all the other times he no showed.
Then in 2021 Mom calls and says she needs to talk to me, comes over to my apartment at the time and tells me Scott had passed away, drunk in his 5th wheel he lived in.
I don't want to be like that and I can recognize the direction I've been going and that's now what I want anymore.
