i hate having to explain old references to older people

i was in co-workers office, and saw a card on his desk

"Charlie Riley"

My obvious comment was to wonder how many times the guy on the card has heard the reference to Charles Nelson Riley.

This man in his early 60s looked at me with clueless expression.

So I try to explain about the show Match Game and Gene Rayburn, Brett Sommers, Betty White, CNR, etc. Dude had zero clue about a reference i was making from before I was even born.

I catch myself talking about myself or something I did often but no one ever really calls me out on it. Maybe because some of the shite I say or do is interesting to an extent or maybe I come with a different perspective.
