The one in the middle of the field happened a good bit before the ball was released, the WR was big time held 10ish or so yards downfield.

It wasn't a bad call. Maybe an inconsistent call, but PI is one of the most difficult calls to make.
And as they say "they shouldn't have been in position to allow a call be the determining factor of the game".
