It was probably messing with a friend’s toy that the owner is probably too old to have brought to school anyway.
Might have even gotten the hanging idea from Goonies with the fake hanging scene and the booby traps involved with ship.
That age and younger probably only hear the N word from black people and only hear monkeys being used as referencing race when someone gets offended & jumps to stupid conclusions over a single picture of one moment about something completely different and then starts bullying the person on social media for what they think it meant instead of what it really was about.
The poster said that it was not about anything racial and took it down after realizing some took it differently. Never should have gotten that far in first place, but that should be the end of it. Hopefully she has been raised to be a strong independent female who brushes this off and defends herself as needed.

I am much older than that and only hear the N word actually spoken when someone black says it or hear the other version of it on songs by black musicians playing in nearby cars at red lights. I have kids just above and just below this person’s age. Same thing for hearing monkeys being used for a race. I hear referencing some times about something other than the animals, but it’s never about a race and usually about white kids. Race is not the first thing most people think about when seeing someone goof off with toy monkeys. Anyone who always thinks race first in any situation is the problem. If toy monkeys are that offensive leftists should be working the ban hammer to ban them from being sold as toys.
