unless you want to work for Northwestern Mutual cold calling your closest 200 friends.
Have a friend who actually has done AWESOME with that, but their first several years after college was spent working all day to build clients, then nights working tables.
Worked out for them, but it definitely isn’t for everyone.

I would argue anybody that can hack it out of college selling investments via Northwestern Mutual in Louisiana would likely be "successful" in whatever they chose to do.
It's hard to get people to trust you with their money, much less if you're 23-30.
You have to he an extraordinary salesman and individual.

Maybe the OP meant Polymer Science?
Either way, it's hilarious that a dad is helping his son look for a job!

I know a few pieces of shite if he's serious about lobbying.

My son is 2025 graduating with Poly Sci. Has internship experience in the financial investments world as well as local Governors and Judicial races. Open to both jobs in Policy/Lobby or Investments. Advice on all avenues with which to start uploading resumes. Already on Linked-in.
I'm a lobbyist... I recommend your son find an entry level or Hill internship in DC. Have him send his resume to your local Congressman (assuming your party affiliation matches).

Hate to be that guy, but if he is having to look on handshake then he doesn’t have the right connections for a lobbyists job in the first place.
There is truth here. Nobody cares about your degree (though school matters some). It's all about who you know. Again, get your feet in DC and start NETWORKING. Public service and then lobbying is a lucrative career path but you have to know people.

It wasn't around when I was at LSU. I went to ULL around 2021 to get a continuing education certificate and tried using it once. The career services website LSU had was better.

Handshake is a waste of time.

Do you go on job interviews with him too? Or just line them up?
I stick to anon posting on an LSU website and help with resume, since..well he has no experience with any of it and its something I can offer as a parent.
Sometimes this site is resourceful, most of the time its just pricks trying to dunk on you.

Thank you. Again, those weighing in just to take a piss are unhelpful. His politics do align. He has connections at local level, although his candidate didn't win the Governorship, he made many useful connections during his time there.
My background is in accounting/finance. I have little knowledge of how politics/lobby works. Neither does he. I suppose others on this board just knew exactly what to do right out of school without asking any questions.

Just quit tryna be such a dick. He's worked on 3 different campaigns at the state and local levels. I was simply looking for an extra resource by which to post his resume. It was a simple question.

I guarantee whatever profession/industry you are in has an advocacy arm in DC representing your interests in front of Congress.

You say you “do” cybersecurity for a living.
Tokens are mentioned and this a foreign concept to you.
It’s just ironic and uncanny that when a poli sci guy gets to the talking points of his field and unawareness is the native response.

I said "what?" because your above statement makes zero sense.
I know what a token is. I have various RSA tokens for various jump servers I need access to. Not a foreign concept. IF you are in the cybersecurity world, you would know where assumptions land you... If you are in this world, you may not be the best at your job...
Maybe be more clear next time?
