Forcing people not to be able to choose the Greek route by banning them is not the route toward freedom and independent thought triumphing on campus. It is really short-sighted to ally with the administration on this because some frat boys act like a-holes. News Flash: all college students are capable of (and do) act like a-holes.

I'm not Greek, but it's amusing how they trigger so many pussies on this board.

They are all around me, like locusts. I have kids.

I know about 200 ex fraternity members. Only one is a travel ball dad. I know many more travel ball dads that were never in a fraternity.

This. If they are travel ball dads with kids named Jayden and Jaxson, I would bet money they weren't in a fraternity.
We are talking the fraternities of Louisiana universities. Maybe the fraternities found at better universities are different.
Sorry you frat snowflakes are melting. Tell your current chapter officers to quit being dipshits.

Agreed....i am kinda close to the legal side of these issues and it would fricking piss you guys off to no end if you new details of what goes on legally.
Its bad, and its ALL the frats fault..the lies, the cover ups, obstructions, etc etc etc
Frats can be and mostly are awesome. I was in it big time at LSU and miss it.
You simply cant hate on LSU admin for taking steps like this. They are forced to so it for many reasons.
Like in every other walk of life, the socially acceptable landscape has changed. Information travels fast via social networks and texts....but the problem it presents is that ALL of that communication is available and recorded forever, unlike the old days where if yiu got away with something bad, it wasnt digitally preserved

It's so obviously kids that weren't confident enough to talk to the hot girls on campus. You can find a high concentration of douches in some houses I'm sure, but it's not any more so then any other group of young 18-23 year old males lol

18 yr old kids are still adults.
Meh, 18 yr olds have never been much for maturity, and today, with parents hovering over them so much, it's the first time they get to experience anything without mama's tit being nearby.
If these kids were able to stand up to peer pressure, they wouldn't join a frat to begin with.

That being said, the vast majority of minors probably break the rule when it comes to underage drinking. It is NOT related to just fraternities.
Sure, I drank, A LOT, as an underage student. But I never forced anyone to drink, nor did I feel the need to haze anyone. Why would you want to subject your "friends" to abuse and bossing them around?

All of the frats just need to move off campus.
You know the university is going to band parties and threatening to kick the band off campus because some 19 year olds are getting drunk.
It’s a terrible double standard, a god damned witch hunt

And cut off their university funding and access to university stuff?
Or, they could turn the stupidity down a notch and the vast majority of people would be fine with them

Well, when I was in school 20 years ago, I don't remember people dying due to frat hazing, so I guess we can start there.
I think the entire concept of Greek life is stupid. But I don't think it should be shut down just because I think it's stupid.
I do believe most frats, at LSU and elsewhere, don't put up with this behavior. Maybe the "good" ones need to push for the "bad" ones to be thrown off campus.

-- Delta Sigma Theta is the only sorority to be removed from campus. The sorority was initially put on probation after a secret initiation ceremony where sisters allegedly put eggs, whipped cream and syrup in the pledges' hair. Delta Sigma Theta national headquarters later initiated a move to ban the sorority from LSU through July 28, 2019.
We had social clubs in high school and the girls did this in yards and parking lots called “pours” and they get in trouble in college? Not sure the hs clubs still do this, it was 20 years ago.

Not at Alabama. Most have built new 40-50,000 sf houses.
Freaking huge buildings. Probably one of the strongest greek campuses in the US.
