The good ole Louisiana General Fund.... the legal way to Ponzi.

Collect taxes for one purpose then use it for another.

I had a great ditch digging job until some cat backhoe made in Mexico came and took it.

I am sorry but no operator can top the craftsmanship of American male and his Shoval

Dr. Jim Henderson, President of Northwestern State University and soon to be President of the University of Louisiana System, announced that NSU would protect current students from the cuts in TOPS funding by making up the difference. According to Dr. Henderson, the $3.5 million cost will come from money held back from an earlier tuition and fee increase and from what he termed “general philanthropic resources” such as the annual scholarship campaign. Dr. Henderson stated that the university had prepared for this eventuality ahead of time and had identified sources to cover the students’ lost TOPS funding.

Can we appoint this gentleman Governor?

This state needs more grown-ups like him.

So is this

TOPS is covering 41.8% of tuition. TOPS has never covered fees. It only ever covered tuition.

So, your title is inherently wrong, but your point is valid. TOPS is covering 41.8% of tuition, but is only covering 30% of tuition and fees (again, which were never covered to begin with).

Its all good. Doesn't make it suck any less.

It just annoys me that WBRZ and the like were reporting it this way to make a crappy situation seem even worse.

I saw this article a few days ago. Maybe this will help someone: LSU offers options to students in lieu of TOPS cuts
