Stretch the hamstrings as much as possible. If it doesn't help, I highly recommend trigger point dry needling. I had a bulging disc and sciatica at 25. The pain was so bad I felt like I was a 90 year old man having to hunch over all the time. I tried needling and the pain was gone within 2-3 weeks. Haven't had an issue since.

Lots of solid advice already given, but, if it's structural, stretching will do nothing. Last summer was the worst time of my life. I had a slipped disc that was compressing my sciatic nerve (along with a calcified vertebrae in my upper back that was narrowing my spinal column). I couldn't take a full step without feeling like a taser hit me in the arse, my legs would completely lock up and I'd drop to the ground.
I'm only 23, but after 3 steroid epidurals that would only help for a week, we decided to try laser surgery. I'm about 90% now, but considering I could barely walk, surgery was the right choice (for me). Skip the bullshite and go get an MRI ASAP, and if it is indeed a slipped disc, I highly suggest starting with injections/rehab, and definitely do your homework before committing to surgery.
Good luck

Go to a physical therapist who also specializes in acupuncture as part of the treatment along with stretching!!!!!!! Every other suggestion on here is secondary because the acupuncture provides almost instant relief once the needles are pulled out.
Truly amazing and I'm offshore fishing after 3 weeks of this. My lower back was causing radiating pain down both of my thighs. No longer any pain.

What are some really good hamstring stretches I can do on my own?

IMHO the best thing is to strengthen your lower back and stomach muscles.
A lot of stretching, crunches, maybe something like yoga.
A golf swing is pretty hard on a back, especially after several years.
eta:Like someone said if you have a Disc problem then that's a different deal all together.
