City of BR, City of Baker, City of Zachary, and the City of Central is suppose to provide City Police or pay for the sheriff’s dept to patrol.
Don't people in BR pay just as much taxes to the EBRSO as people in unincorporated areas even though they get less patrol?

gerrymandering map of St. George
Gerrymandering means there is a change of a voting district boundaries to influence the legislative representation of a given district. A new SG incorporation will not have any increase in legislative authority. Not at the Metro Council level, not at the state level, not at the Congressional level. St. George excluded certain areas because the last petition effort was opposed in those areas. Also, go take a look at how the city f BR annexed certain areas (The Mall, Siegen Lane Shopping Center), but also refused to annex Gardere

Those areas annexed during the first petition drive will not be reversed. Those done after the prescribed date for certification of the 2019 election will be voided

How was this determined? The line was drawn right around my neighborhood but no one ever asked me.
The first petition signature numbers were counted and those areas that as a majority refused to sign were not drawn into the map for the next effort.

Everyone on EBRP pays for the sheriff as he is over the whole parish also provides alot of services for the parish.
He provides the jail, security for the jail, tax collection, security for the 19th JDC, and can go into the city for law enforcement as they are over the whole parish.
Unincorporated areas do pay extra taxes that helps pay for extra law enforcement duties which the cities do not pay.
BR, Baker, Zachary, and Central do not pay these taxes. That tax is left off their property taxes as their cities either pay for supplemental sheriffs deputy’s to act as a city police force or they have a city police dept.
As far as constables each city has one. BR, is probably the largest in the parish as they provide security for the city court, City only offices such as the city court, city jail which is really not used as it was more of a weekend drunk tank to sober people up, and they serve the summons for city court.
Even the unincorporated areas have a constable. Just not a very high profile job as they do not have city courts or offices to provide security.
People inside the city receive parish services yet the do not pay for those services such as the 19th JDC and their operations cost.
If St George becomes a city everyone will see what a drag financially the City of Baton Rouge is on the parish.
This is why the next move is the spilt the city parish form of government up.

but Baton Rouge is going to spend a decade making it miserably hard to do so.
That’s the thing. Legally BR is not suing. As things now stand Lamont Cole is suing individually. Broome was thrown out of the SG suit by the Appeals Court. Mary Olive Pearson doesn’t want people to know that.

Amazing I have to pay for so much shite I don’t receive just so the parish president/mayor can slush fund it all into north Baton Rouge.

Actually there were two petitions. The first one fell short by less than 100 signatures after a few hundred changed their minds and pulled their signatures.
Thanks.

This is surprising seeing how the city annexed Scotlandville.

And he does not own land in SG nor does he live there. Therefore, he lacks standing. The case should be dismissed.
