Yeah you can pay tickets online now. Welcome to the 21st century.

Been several years, but every time I got a speeding ticket in Westwego, it didn't even show an option to pay ahead of time. Go to court, pay the fine, but they never reported it to insurance.

I am a licensed ticket broker for Louisiana.

The state doesn’t like to deal with tickets via people on their payroll so they are farming it out to brokers.

The way it works is that you send me a cash transfer that is 70% of the ticket and I add a 5% cut.

Everybody wins.

I use PayPal.

I’m surprised you don’t know about this.

Go to the jurisdictional website that holds the ticket and click on the ticket broker link.

It will provide a list.

I need to know what municipality or parish it was in to know if I am broker there.

I shite you not, in the city of Lafayette there is no online pay system. You have to go pay in person. That is in one of the most modern cities in the state. So you just imagine what a majority of the podunk towns are like here.

Sounds like you need to make a little donation to Mike Walsworth, he's a good dude and will take care of it.

I'd first call the DA's office to see of they'll reduce to non-moving. I'd pay the fine before hiring an atty.

Ouachita Online Ticket Payment

You could call and ask for diversion to keep it off record

Oauchita Sheriff - Telephone: 318.329.1200

Ouachita DA - Office Phone: (318) 388-4720

Go to court, tell the DA you couldn’t afford air conditioning and you son never lived with AC. I am sure they will just toss it.

I got a speeding ticket in May in a school zone. It was about 20 minutes after school had started (40 in a 25) but didn’t matter, it was 350.00. I called to see if I could at least get it as a non-moving violation. Ended up talking to an Asst DA who was very cool to me. Asked if I had any recent tickets, I didn’t, and dropped it to an expired inspection sticker which also made it 140.00. Of course I was pretty thankful about that. That was pretty nice of him for not even knowing me.

I’d tell your son to at least call, worst that happens is they say No.

Just call and ask if you can get it dropped to a non moving. I got a ticket in Gonzales almost two years ago. I called and asked what I could do to not have it go against my record and the woman told me to write a letter asking just that and send a cashiers check. That was literally all I needed to do, write some half arse letter and pay the fine I was already going to have to pay.

There are plenty of lawyers in Monroe that can handle this for you. It may run $400-500, but there shouldn’t be a moving violation on his record thus raising insurance rates and counting against his Alabama “point” system for driving.

This is bad advice. Why would you pay $500 for a ticket that cost $200-300? You call the DA and ask them to keep it off your record. They will put you in a diversion program and keep it off your record.

I got 2 awhile back. One in St. Mary parish where I contacted the DA and paid my $300, 6 months probation at $40 a month and take a driving class online. Once I paid the $360 and took the course online my probation was over and the ticket off my record.

The other one was in Jackson parish. I paid $200 for the ticket and diversion program and that was it. No tickets on my on my record.

If he wants to risk it he could go to court to contest it. Often the officer doesn't show up to court. If the officer doesn't show up on the court date, the ticket will be dropped and it won't cost him anything. I did that once in Mississippi. No lawyer involved that time either. Worst case scenario there: officer shows up and you pay the full cost of the ticket (which is no more than you're already going to pay anyway).

Doesn't work that way in a lot of places anymore, where I am if you show up on your court date to contest the ticket you see only a clerk and are given a new court date, and informed that if you are unsuccessful at getting the ticket thrown out you will pay the ticket fine plus court costs. So you have to make a additional trio and risk paying more than just the fine, at that point most people just pay the fine.
