The ones that can't get fired for whatever reason. $411 million is a good damn reason to go on ahead and rip that band aid off and fire them.

That’s a ridiculous award from a stupid jury. Thankfully some states have sense and passed tort reform. That would be reduced to about 350k in my state.

But, but,…mean companies something something arrrgh

Let's be clear, lawyer gets 40%PLUS expenses..which will run in the 20 to 30% range.
The 40% is clear profit

Client winds up with 30 to 40%.

Ive done my time on scaffold building crew. This was just before 90% of scaffolds get built by outside contractors. It’s inherently dangerous work. It’s not profitable like erecting steel either and it’s temporary and immediately in the way once it’s not needed. There is always a “Crazy Mike”.

It gets pretty easy once you work on the same crew and you know what the guy you’re working with is going to do and how he hands off sections and cross braces. You learn where to stand and where to not put your hands and even if he drops something you re not going to get hit.

Then you have your “Crazy Mikes”. They don’t want to pause for 5 seconds when they get going. They start throwing shite and causing chaos. They are the biggest suck asses anywhere. I worked with my share. Any chance they get they disregard safety. Which a lot of times safety rules can make the job more hazardous but they just take any opportunity to abandon safety rules just on their own arse sucking principles.

I worked with a “Crazy Mike” that bragged one day about how he started shooting steroids. Not going to the gym or exercising in any way but so he could work harder and faster. Some guys just take it upon themselves to suck the bosses arse.

Now I take pride in doing good work and am happy to make my bosses money. Of course I want them to be profitable. But frick them running if Im going to jeopardize my safety or the guys around me to save them a minute of payroll. That’s what their “Crazy Mike” is for and when he fricks up one too many times and kills somebody, that somebody’s family should own the company.

serious spinal cord injury and brain injury. Jose can barely talk and his sister takes care of him

So if some idiot caused you or a loved one those horrific lifetime injuries, you wouldn't think max total 350 k is ridiculous? remember the lawyer gets his fee out that too.

I don't think 411 million is needed for the guy. I do think 411 million is needed to discourage this sort of behavior from companies.

What hiring people like Jose and crazy Mike?

I mean, that's a pretty good PSA for companies nationwide. "Don't hire someone whose epithet is 'Crazy'"

I was talking to an attorney and asking about fees. Don't quote me on this, but if I recall correctly, it was:

30% if it is settled
40% if it goes to trial
50% if it goes to an appeal

These figures are all plus expenses.
