They can’t produce electricity to keep with the demand right now. It’s not about ice on the lines here

Yup my cable went out yesterday about 1. Probably be out for 3-4 days even though the ice will be mostly gone by this afternoon here in Walker.... but it may be something at the main hub.

I don’t understand this. The grid can handle every home running AC units in the middle of August - so it should be able to handle this.

My theory is that in the summer you only need to cool your house down about 20 degrees. Now you’re trying to warm it up about 40 degrees.

More power.

You should not have to heat your house up 40 degrees during this but depending on how warm you have to have it plus your location you may use a little bit more power.....

It will get there... by noonish the clouds will go away and it will heat up enough to melt the ice on the lines.

Much more energy required to bring a house to 68-72 inside when it’s 15 outside than it is to cool a house to 72-78 when it’s 95-100 outside. That’s a 50+ degree swing vs a 25-30 degree swing. Our homes our designed for 95-100 degrees. Not this crap we have now. Home heaters are working harder. And the geniuses that have their water heaters in the attic instead of the utility room are working much harder.

natural gas is cheap and plentiful for those who use it to heat their homes

Can I get some help from people on driving from Lafayette to Alexandria?

Wife has a shift in Alexandria tomorrow.
Trying to figure out if she should go during the day today? Or if she would be fine at 6am in the morning tomorrow?
