For medical use...but another step towards legalization.

I'd like to see it legalized in Louisiana before Texas. We have to make up for that lost casino revenue somehow now that Texas is going to legalize gaming.

The Louisiana House has backed proposals to legalize and tax the raw, smokable form of medical marijuana, a key expansion of the state’s medical program as lawmakers debate looser rules for the drug.

The House voted 73-26 Monday to approve Speaker Pro Tem Tanner Magee’s House Bill 391 to allow patients to buy up to 71 grams – or 2.5 ounces – of raw marijuana every two weeks.

Currently, patients who get marijuana through the state’s medical program can only access several non-smokable forms of the drug, including tinctures and gummies. Magee’s bill would let the state’s two licensed producers – partners of the agricultural centers at LSU and Southern University – sell the smokable form of the drug to the state’s nine pharmacies licensed to sell marijuana to patients.

Magee, a Houma Republican, argued the legislation will improve access to patients and get a cheaper product to the market. Producers have said the raw form is cheaper – even if it's taxed, as Magee wants – than the tinctures, which must go through more processing.

Marijuana stinks. The smell of it is just as offensive, if not more so, than cigarettes.

With all that being said, it should be legal and I hope they have the same (relatively lax) distribution laws they do with alcohol. Part of the failure in the west is the extreme regulation on pot selling permits.

Bruh - come on.

Cigarette smoke sticks to everything exponentially more and has actual burning chemicals in it as opposed to just a plant. I'm not saying I love either one, but it isn't close to as bad as cigarette smoke.

I rip my pens in public settings without detection constantly.

Completely agree. The smell lingers. It should also be legal.

For those downvoting, they likely have no idea what I mean. It isn't smoke, it is vapor.

Looks like this, has a tiny cloud, with hardly any smell, that immediately dissipates. It isn't some huge flavored vape rig that trashy folk like to use with tobacco or something.

I can pull this puppy behind a corner or blow it into my shirt (actually works ha) and people are none the wiser. I rip it in my living room all the time and it just disappears immediately. Been doing this in movie theaters for years.

I smell secondary distribution. Just legalize recreational.

Yeah, I didn't say it disappeared. I just said it's less noxious than cigarettes. Ever been around a tractor tire fire? That's like cigarettes compared to weed.

This shocks the hell out of me.

Good for them. It's completely stupid not to legalize it.
