Other Southern states have more yankees
"Louisiana is one of the least diverse states when it comes to domestic migration – nearly 4 out of 5 residents were born in the state, a figure that hasn't changed much over the past century.
Louisiana historically has had one of the highest retention rates in the nation. That changed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After accounting for all the people who left and those who came back, the overall picture showed an increase in movement to other states. About 10 percent of people born in Louisiana now live in Texas."

You gotta have money to leave.

I believe it
What I'll never understand though, is when people feel like they're "stuck" in louisiana yet do absolutely nothing to change their situation. I have no sympathy for your whining

You're such a pioneer and inspiration

Not stuck here at all, I stay by choice. Could have transferred to Houston a long time ago but no way I could live in a concrete jungle like that. And the food elsewhere sucks.

You can bet that it's not because nobody *wants* to leave.

Why would anyone ever want to leave Louisiana? Best jobs, best culture, best food and best schools. I think I'll stay.

I left the state before and damn near kiss the ground when I got back.

We are masochists.

That's because it sucks and nobody wants to move there

But, but, but people are leaving the rust belt in droves! Yet, the statistics show that people are more likely to stay in those states than others. I'm confused!

Well, other states don't accept my Louisiana Purchase card.

I believe it. The food. The women. LSU football. Camps on the river. The weather. I don't want to live anywhere else.

if you like where you live, that's great
I'm speaking specifically to the people who complain all the time, but when I suggest they move, they give a million excuses

Many Louisiana natives are too scared to cut the cord and see what other areas have to offer. By turn, they mock those have the foresight to see while a great state, there is better places to live and/or raise a family often with higher pay, better job opportunities, and lower cost of living.

I complain about Louisiana, but the thought of living in the DC area again makes me want to vomit.
