Keep in mind net worth doesn't mean straight cash, it's assets. (Land, houses, businesses, etc.)

Um, you don't know the meaning of net worth. You have to subtract liabilities.

Pretty sure that's an inherent assumption within the calculation that didn't really need to be stated

He directly said assets. Not all people are as financially savvy as you, PM.

Believe me I'm not financially savvy. He just wasn't thorough enough in his explanation that you have cleared up for the illiterates. I think his main sticking point was not liquid which probably didn't need to be said in the first place.

Fine, I am sleep deprived and being bitchy

John Engquist was a good guy to work for. I enjoyed my years at H&E and learned a lot.

I'm sure they're fine, but any claim to being super-wealthy would have to rest on their ownership of ECO and a handful of captive vendor companies.

If they'd cashed out about 15 years ago maybe they really would have that kind of fantastic generational wealth, but instead they just continue to own ECO and ECO continues to borrow and grow, and make about 90% of its money in the Gulf.

It would be interesting to see the market put a price on a stake in ECO. Would probably attract a lot of wild speculation.

I just bought a Chevy Vega so there’s only 76.
It set me back.

And that's probably my frame of reference. I've been out of town for a long time.

Not saying you don't matter. Your ability to torment me is just severely inhibited by your anonymity

Lol

He owns more than just EOC and has vessels that work all over the world.

He also owns several different shipyards in Louisiana and Florida, a huge wildlife refuge where they sell safaris and exotic hunts in Africa as well as a enormous ranch in Texas where they also sell high $$$$ hunts.

Dude owns the Port of Fourchon and a shite ton of Land along Bayou Lafourche.

He builds his own boats unlike his competition, so the money all stays in the family. They are a very private and close knit family. I would be GC is worth well over $4B-$5B

I thought he was at least in the billion dollar range about a decade ago but what do I know

I remember during the short drilling moratorium there were reports of him losing 10s of millions of dollars a week

You don't need to be a CFA to figure out that if you're losing that much a week you have a lot to lose

When he cashed out to for a second time, this time to Kirby.

He’s worth well over $100mm. I’d say probably close to a $1B
