A few weeks ago, I was driving near my house in the rain around midnight and nearly hit a dog.
I stopped, open the door, and a wet, scared pit jumped into my lap and started licking me to death.
This was my biggest fear that some redneck POS would feel that his dog was ruining his hunt and kill her.

If the dog tried to atrack then you can't fault the person who shot it.
But, from what OP says I doubt the dog did anything to warrant being shot.

Dammit thats terrible
I know Johnny and played and even fed Chelsea a couple times at the gym, really sweet dog. Hope they find out who did this.

I will never understand how shitty a person must be to randomly shoot/hurt a dog- unless its a threat in someway. Sorry for the loss of the pup.

Unlikely she acted aggressively. That dog spent a lot of time at a busy gym around a bunch of people. Given the area, and the type of people that live there, it's more likely someone just shot her for the hell of it.
My wife and I own pits. The harsh reality is by letting one off the leash they may get killed just because of how they look. We don't even leave ours in the back yard without supervision. Not even with an 8ft privacy fenced back yard and a 8 ft iron gate across the driveway.
Knowing Johnny, I would not want to be on the receiving end of his wrath. It's only a matter of time before someone turns rat.

I was following the facebook posts as well.
It was a perfectly placed shot for an experienced deer hunter: right behind the left shoulder. If she was aggressive towards the shooter, he would have just shot wherever he could. It wouldn't have been a perfect kill-shot.
Redneck hunters are the worst. I worked for an engineering firm and some redneck POS called the office and left a long voicemail detailing what he would do (shoot) to our CE/Survey team if they ever disrupted his hunt again.

Well its kind of the shitty risk you take when a dog gets away. Certainly not condoning or justifying the shooting. Just saying its the risk you run. I'd be pissed too, but then again if I let the dog get away...

very true but I would not risk going to jail over this tragedy.
The bullet hole was pretty big
RIP

That's so messed up. I don't really like pit bulls, but she looks so sweet and you can clearly see she has tags..
This looks like someone just shot her. Not like a self defense type of shot.. I hate that. They could have called someone. Just awful.

Only one man could of solved this crime .....

Nobody said anything about going to jail but it's only a matter of time before everybody knows who the shooter is. That's a small place and $1,000 goes a long way in Torbert.

It's a very shitty thing that happened, but what's stopping someone from turning in a random innocent person for the money and then him crushing their skull in?
Posted on 1/11/16 at 2:28 pm to Oates Mustache
Don't be silly. Nobody is crushing any innocent peoples skulls.

So how would be know if the person is telling the truth? My point is yes, it's a horrible story, but he has limited options.

Whoever did this better hope they are never found out.
Why?
It's shitty to kill a dog unless it's a threat but what are you or Johnny going to do to the person that shot a pit bull the irresponsible dog owner let run loose out of a fence?
Posted on 1/11/16 at 2:32 pm to stout
Exactly. Sad situation, but that's a scary dog to have roaming around free.
