Lost and found

My 6 year old son finds a pair of ray ban sunglasses while shopping today. I call him over and ask where he found them. He showed me, it was near the men’s shoe section. I told my son those are someone’s glasses and they would probably come looking for them. We then headed to the front of the store and found an employee who wasn’t actively engaged with costumers and turned them in. As we walked away I began telling my son how we did the right thing because he was upset we didn’t keep them. We both then overheard the employee tell another “Look what I just got!” And put them in his jacket pocket. Still glad I turned them in to “lost and found” and had a good teaching moment with my boy but I be damned if that jack wagon piss me off. Merry Christmas Y’all!

Your kid stole them first, you just caught him before he was in the clear.

Way to teach those lessons when you find Ray bans. Would have been harder not to keep them if they were white frame Oakley's.

Should have asked to see the manager.

I once found a $100 bill in the parking lot of Albertson's on Bluebonnet.
I did not turn it in to the store.
I figured it was going to be used to by drugs in Gardere, so by me taking it, I'm basically a community hero possibly saving someone's life.

Don’t pick up anything that’s not yours.

In a single use bathroom at Pepper's Pizzaria, I once chopped up a line on the sink.
But didn't want ppl to hear me snort it.
Next I hit the hand dryer ON button to mask the sound. However, turned on before noticing it would blow my coke everywhere.
Don't do drugs kids.

The employee did this in front of you right after you turned them in? I don’t believe you.

Son was waiting behind some idiots, waiting to play the clawmachine ( for his younger sibling). The idiots were loud and obnoxious, beating at the machine and jumping around.
Their activity caused a wad of bills to fall out their pocket. They had no idea. My son politely said " excuse me" to get their attention but was ignored. So he tapped their arm and said " excuse me but is this .. " and the person rudely said " frick off kid, dont you ever touch me again, dont bother me again. You better run back to your daddy".
So my son came over to me, where i had been watching this happen. He asked what to do. Well the person had clearly said not to bother them again so I told my son the money ( about 50 bucks) was now his to keep and do with as he wished.
He has a best friend whose parents struggle financially. His friend had really liked my sons new jacket so he bought his friend a jacket like his.

Bank teller once gave me an extra $100 when I was getting some cash (pre ATM days) at a drive through. I told the teller who said no way I miscounted. I said Thank You and drove off.

Earlier this year my dad found $600 and a drivers license wrapped in a rubber band in a grocery store parking lot. I can't remember the precise details but something about the whole situation made him weary and he didn't want to go to the address on the license. He took it to the police station for the town listed on her license and they told him they couldn't take it because that isn't where he found it. My dad asks if he should go to the police station where he found it and the cop said he could, but that he was familiar with the young lady listed on the license and would recommend NOT making any contact with her because she's "bad news", implying the money was dirty.
He ended up keeping the loot.

When my son was about 4 years old we were eating at a Chili’s and he slid down under the table and came up with a photo album. Inside was about $750 dollars in cash but it was spread around in different pages that said things like groceries, diapers, meals, rent.
My wife said it was some kind of Dave Ramsey system. I asked to speak to a manager and gave him the album because I was sure someone would come back looking for it.
After we left and I had time to think about it I wished I would have just left my phone number and he could have relayed it to the person if they came back. I know he just put it in his pocket and went about his day.
Moral of story is never assume people are as honest as you are.

Before I got to the end I was thinking "whoever you returned them to probably took them".
Its good you used it as a teaching lesson

Several years ago I was at a truck stop restaurant having lunch with my father. I went to the restroom after I ate to wash my hands. After washing and drying I turned around to walk out and noticed a big leather wallet on the floor of a shite stall with money literally pouring out of of it. I picked it up and flipped through the money, all $100 bills. I didn’t count it, but it was at least $1500 to $2000. I took the drivers license out and it was a bald headed dude with a beard about mid-40’s. I walked into the restaurant and started looking around and saw a bald dude with his back to me eating. I walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder and asked him, “Are you John Smith?” (Or whatever his name was) and he looks at me confused and says, “Yeah, can I help you?” I said, “You dropped this in the shitter,” and showed him his wallet. Dudes eyes got as big as saucers and he says, “Holy shite!” Thank you so much.” I said, “I don’t know how much is in there, but I know it’s a lot of money.” He thanked me again and I just walked away. I didn’t expect anything for it and wouldn’t have accepted it anyway.
Funny thing about was, as I was walking out of the restroom, three young black dudes saggin and thuggin walked in. I can assume that dude would have never gotten his money back if I had not gone to the restroom when I did.
