Don't think you can replace a cherished pet. Just start a new relationship with a different one.

I wouldn't rush the new dog. Take some time. You'll know when you're ready. Good luck with it all.

My wife and I are struggling now with the thought of getting another dog after Jazz is gone. We can't imagine replacing her. I have heard that the best remedy for a broken heart over losing a cherished pet is to get another one. Not sure are emotionally ready for that now. Time will tell

always takes me a year or so....I wouldn't rush into getting another pet, as you'll know when the time is right....

I had the ashes from mine in my truck for awhile, everyone that opened the wooden box and looked inside thought it was a large bag of blow

Beautiful dog. I have a 12 year old chocolate and I am dreading the day I have to put him down.

I have the ashes of my dogs that have died. I have a nice little box for each with the ashes, collars, little trinkets. To me, it rounds the memorial out.

Great looking dog. Cherish the time you have left.

When our first lab was diagnosed, they gave her up to 4 months, but she passed in about 2. We spent a lot of time with her, took lots of pictures and ate lots of hamburger and steak.

Really appreciate the feedback. You OT guys have been great! This will help my wife and I deal with a very rough time for us. We are already emotionally spent, but will take your advice to heart.

I feel your pain. I'm going through it right now with my dog. Found out he has cancer about a month ago. It sucks. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

Jazz was born in Plaquemine La. She's a cajun dog. That's where I'm from.

tigers444 I feel your pain......just make him as comfortable as you can for the time left.

No easy answers to this. just do the right thing by them.

Yeah he doesn't want to do anything anymore and he's usually a hyper dog. He was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma which I think is the same or similar to lymphoma. I've been feeding him boiled chicken and some other table scraps. He doesn't want to seem to eat just his dog food by itself. I'm not sure how much longer he has left. They just told me month to month.

Not morbid at all. I have always buried my animals when they die, but keeping their ashes sounds good too.

My dog died about 10 days ago too and I buried it. He was hit by a car and totally my fault for him being in the street, but the car that hit him kept going. It pissed me off that a car would keep going after hitting a dog. The vehicle driver knew it hit a dog also. Buddy was a yellow lab and weighed about 45-55 lbs.

No way I could just wrap him in a bag and toss him in a ditch.

My husband/boyfriend/ANYONE will be dealing with all of it when that unfortunate time comes for me. I couldn't even GO to the place to put a pet down muchless be in the room.

I don't even wanna be the one to find her if she dies on her own.

Sending my thoughts to you both. It's so hard :(

I paid $800 just to have a bump removed from her last year, and I'd do it again 10 times.
