Introduction of a legalization of a new, unnecessary influencer is not justifiable. If you think it's okay, give some to your kids now, so your kids can cut the grass at my son's law firm when they grow up.

I consider anyone here who argues against legalization to be a troll. Bc someone who can operate a computer can't possibly be so stupid.

Looks like a DEA shill was at the Senate the other day puking out the anti-legalization propaganda. They must be getting really scared about their funding being cut.

“I have to say this… going down the path to legalization in this country is reckless and irresponsible,” James L. Capra said during a Senate hearing. “I’m talking about the long-term impact of legalization in the United States. It scares us.”

“There are more dispensaries in Denver than there are Starbucks,” Capra remarked. “The idea somehow… that this is somehow good for us as a nation, that this is good for the next generation coming up is wrong. It’s a bad thing, and this body will get its door knocked on ten years from now and say, ‘How did we get where we got?’”

Florida saying they've got the sigs to put this on the ballot this year. It will go to the people for a vote, so it may pass.

I can honestly see Louisiana coming up with some sort of law that allows it to happen ($$$) but makes it palatable to the super religious social conservatives. That's pretty much what they did with the riverboat casinos ("it's OK y'all, they aren't land based!") as if somehow the gambling taking place over water was less immoral. I just can't think of a way to do that or I would suggest it. Maybe smoke houses where you have to consume on site. That would be a huge money maker down in the Quarter.

WHA? Look at where we are as a country right now. It doesn't take marijuana to screw this country up, we've done perfectly fine at taking this country to the dumps while marijuana is still illegal. All the while the drug cartels are raking in billions of black market untaxed dollars. Marijuana isn't going to make or break us morally or ethically. Marijuana can, however solve many budget crises that states are facing all over this country. We live in a supposedly free country. We need to stop criminalizing marijuana and paying millions of dollars a year to imprison otherwise decent people, and start letting our citizens make their own choices about marijuana so that states can benefit from the taxes that sales will bring.

The barrier for the Florida vote is the Supreme Court review of the proposed amendment. The amendment and the shorthand that goes on the ballot has to pas certain state constitutional requirements. There are two strong arguments that the proposed amendment fails the constitutional challenge. The case has already been argued; so, we are waiting on the court's opinion. Some think the court is political and liberal and may allow the amendment to go to vote in spite of the constitutional muster arguments.
Interestingly, something like 11 of the 17 states with effective medical cannabis laws (effective meaning there is a way to get it) were passed by citizen initiative, not Legislative action. For that reason, I doubt Louisiana passes any legalization law.
Article about the case

Yeah, they are going to take a good hard look at the term "condition"; however, the language used was that which was adopted by all the other medical marijuana states. My hope is that the Supreme Court of FL agrees that doctors should determine who gets it, not politicians.
Exactly, Louisiana has a HUGE hurdle to clear since the people cannot amend the laws.

i only have a couple dozen of friends that are attorney's. care to guess how many are recreational users of marijuana?
assuming smoking weed will cause you to cut grass for a living is kind of silly. just as silly as assuming not smoking weed will somehow make you an attorney.

That would never be approved because the likelihood of driving afterwards would be brought up by opponents.
