Yeah they go hand in hand. It would be hard to prove that JM was possibly trying to break into the car and would stop if Gasser asked.

Not necessarily. There are many factors that make up what a reasonable person would deem necessary deadly force.
Again, they are two separate factors and a jury must consider both.
