Mono is potentially so much worse than people realize. A couple of weeks of being in bed sick with fatigue, enlarged spleen and other after effects for months. Covid, at that age, is just a virus. From that point... time contagious, how contagious, asymptomatic spread, etc is a wildcard. Depends on which people and which studies you look at. Mono sucks. Any really sick person should respectfully stay home from work or school regardless.

Agreed. Out of flu, Covid or mono, mono would be a huge concern for me. Kids get really sick and take a long time to recover. If your kid has a fever, keep them home. This isn’t something new.

WTF is that? This how everyone gets sick (at least mono/strep) and potentially the whole fricking school put online or totally fricked.

Do we go Karen on mom on rat her out or play this out like normal times?

you think she was the only one who sent her kid to school sick?

Give you kid vitamin C everyday and they'll be ok.

Apparently no tests are back, which has to be a lie, at least mono and strep. Has told no one at school.

So strep is highly contagious and Mono can legitimately frick a kid up. Their spleen could rupture if they try to do too much while running a fever with Mono. They'll do a rapid test for strep and can do a quick blood test for Mono (but will send off for further analysis if needed).

I'd rat her out in a heartbeat. Forget COVID, people like that are the fricking worst.

I'd like to think that for every critic there's at least two supporters. They're 5th grade. At that point they have 2 BFFs and start to recognize personal space with anyone else. I wouldn't say shite. It'll hopefully blow over by next week. I couldn't imagine the school making a fuss over it anyway if she's a big donor.

No strangers here, we're all family.

Did the kid wear a mask, stay 6 ft apart and not visit any bar?

Unless your kid lives with grandma or in a nursing home I wouldn’t worry about your kid catching something that has zero affect on him.

As a parent, THIS. If they have fever, I wouldn't be sending them to school .. but if they felt fine and just no diagnosis, I wouldn't keep them home.

I don’t care because I’m sending my kids to school sick this year just like I always have.
