Actually the field has shifted (albeit slowly with a long way to go) in the last decade. I know several people with an MLIS degree.
Don't think of just the librarian in the school or public library. The other half of the name is information science. Part of the degree is about information management. The field is shifting to managenent of digital information.
And the librarians I know all make in the 40's-50's or more. So not great salaries but not horrible either.

There are bunch of judgmental pricks in this thread, honestly.

the median salary for librarians is about $60k. Those with a master's degree earn up to $85k.
I really had no idea that they made that much...

The GDI card so early in your defense? The jury will return this one before lunch.

Yeah. As one poster pointed out, things have changed. The job has become more about managing information than indexing books, and that is valuable. The issue is that libraries exist within institutions, and institutional jobs are limited (as our intelligent but arrogant EE friend pointed out).

The funny part for me is that he thinks I'm still in college. I've been posting on this board since he was at most 12 years old.

You're way off with those numbers.
Library science is a dying field. Try visiting some of the wasteland MLIS career sites.

I don't think you live in the same real world as I do. EBR starts at $36.5k and follows a set pay raise scale each year. 2015 median pay was $55k according to the US Department of Labor. Not OT baller money, but there are worse jobs to have.

I made a typo. Your entire posting record is full of idiocy and nonsense. Let's put that intelligence to some better use, son. Maybe start thinking for a change.

Nice try though.

You're defending it, so you tell us. According to you, Library Science is the best major ever

I honestly don't give a shite, I was mostly reacting against your arrogance and derisiveness.
