Very reminiscent of my Transiberian Orchestra experience. Many years ago, my young son loved their Christmas song so I bought tickets for their show in NOLA. My son was 7, but my daughter was 3 and was absolutely scared shitless.

I tend to agree with others in this that they are using their church space to host an event that ultimately helps them raise funds.

Agreed. And I do know a little bit about these type productions. The reason for the fee is to cover costs and to raise money for other mission services provided by these mega churches. They do actually provide a lot of services to folks in need. The idea behind a fee is to put in a show people will enjoy and not take anything out of the regular church budget to do it.

They also do have at least one night where they allow those from their church one cannot afford it to attend.

Whenever I see a place like that, I ask myself, "what would jesus think about this church?" And guess what? Any church that charges admission is a scam and Jesus would tear the place apart just like he did with the money lenders in the bible.

I hear similar things from a lot of catholics about one of the big non denominational churches here in BR (HPC) and I can't help but comment on their hypocrisy when you look at some of the extravagant Catholic churches around the world.

Because Catholic Churches are known for their reserved and minimalist construction and artwork?

If you mean because they don’t have insane productions like this one that costs hundreds of dollars to attend yes, but if it’s because the Catholic Church has avoided the opulence of earthly treasures used to celebrate Jesus….

Well said. This is what I was trying to say in my previous post but you said it much better than I did.

I’m not sure that’s what’s meant in Psalms 100 when it says “make a joyful noise unto the Lord”.

We should all be thankful daily Martin Luther came along and cucked for his king.

This is why Righteous Gemstones is so fantastic. It hits it right on the nose for those mega churches.

I used to live close to this church when I lived in Plano. It was a solid church with great outreach programs but took a "Lakewood" approach back in the late 2000's.
