To answer your question I'm going to break down the Bail Bonds Process when some skips out on court or violates their bail agreement:
1.I complete a commercial surety power of attorney worth at least the amount of the bond and submit it to the jail. The bond is now posted.
2.The inmate is released.
3.The inmate is rearrested on new charges, fails to Pay their remaining bail premium, etc.
I then locate them and have bounty hunters apprehend them, put them in jail, then revoke the bond.
Same thing applies if the person misses court. Only difference is if the person misses court we have 180 days to apprehend them and put them in jail or we have to pay out that full bail amount.
I'm not really good at typing stories so sorry if it's hard to follow.
As far as your question:
I have put defendants back in jail due to their Indemnitor(Co-signer) basically telling me the person has become a flight risk.
I try to stay away from doing that though.

When a bond is "Forfeited" I lose money.

Bunch of douchebags wasting valuable question time so far, so let me ask a few
Any ot 8’s or above bonded, and for what?
Most ridiculous story given as reason for bond needed?
Would you say comparing yourself to a towing company is fair?

All right, thank you. I wasn’t sure if you forfeited a bond if the defendant was re-arrested. Apparently it’s just revoked and you lose nothing.

Yes. Typically domestic abuse or DUI.

I honestly rarely ask my clients what was the reasoning for their arrest.

Lol not at all. I allow people whom are incarcerated to be released for 1/10 of their bond amount. Which was set by a judge. Without us most people would sit in jail until their court proceedings concluded. I always get people down talking us and my reply is always the same. "Without a judge setting a bond we don't exist" We are simply middle men.

Well shite, boy, I got one like that. You ever take pussy instead of the 10/20 percent?
Posted on 2/13/20 at 1:39 am to texashorn
No problem. Most bondsman are actually excited when defendants are rearrested. because it gives us a reason to revoke their bonds. Meaning the bondsman made their 12% and can now get off of the bond (as you said) without having to risk the defendant missing court.
Kind of an easy way out.

How much do those guys make per perp? My Aunt use to be a bondsman, tried to get me to be a bounty hunter when I got out of the military and was looking for work.

Nah man.. I know of a lot of bondsman that do though. I have had personal relations with 2 clients once they had concluded their court proceedings though.
It's not worth it. In Louisiana it is considered a felony to not collect state mandated premiums. Plus word spreads pretty quickly about who's doing what in the bail industry.

Not as much as people think. When I first got in the industry all I did was bounty hunt for the biggest surety company in La and I made 5% per file plus gas and hotel reimbursements. It was great money as I was a young go getter but the 60+ hour weeks quickly grew old on me.
The 10% thing don't really happen and the hunters that charge that get little to no files.

What's the highest bail you've posted for someone?

I don't really get the biggest bonds in town because I'm not willing to do payment plans like other local bondsman are.
That being said the highest bond I've ever posted was $450,000 on multiple Armed Robbery Charges.
Funny story about that particular bond is my defendants Iranian co-defendant was given a $1,000,000+ bail. The bondsman who got him out put an ankle bracelet on him and the Judge ordered an ankle bracelet be put on him. The guy gets out, cuts both ankle bracelets off, and flees back to his homeland. Interpol is now looking for him but there's a good chance that he will never be found and that bondsman will be on the hook for $1,000,000 depending on what collateral he got upfront. Long story short that bondsman will probably never post another bail bond in his life.

I take it the guys you have to hunt down as a bounty hunter don't come quietly. You ever feel your life was about to be in danger?

Honestly most do. Most understand that they messed up and missed court. They also understand that we're not the police so that helps a little bit also.
While I have gotten into a foot pursuits, fist fights, etc. the ratio of Clean Arrests to Fighters is probably 25 to 1.
It helped that I typically set up apprehensions in what I considered safe places (defendants jobs, while they were walking into a store, etc.)
I very rarely kicked a door in.

Wow, that's surprising. I never watched Dog but you see the commercials and he's usually chasing ppl down dressed like a fkn Swat team member.
I always figured you were mostly grabbing the "Im not going back" kinda ppl who had to be physically drug back to jail.
