Maybe you missed it, but the body cam has already proven the major facts of the case.

This would be an admission of guilt, and an easy way to lose a lawsuit.

no exigent circumstances, they were in the wrong place and basically where they were not supposed to be.. What are they not guilty of ??? lol ..They should have shown some humility and just apologized and provided as much explanation as necessary to put that fire out..as most people understand that all make mistakes...If they double down and try to justify what they did then there is no punishment harsh enough. Sometimes a little humble pie will go way further than umteen advanced elite ninja pistol level 19 sealcop training classes will get ..

Late 80’s in Hammond I dropped a friend off at a bar I hadn’t been drinking because I was sick but I just dropped him off and was going home. It was Dec 23rd a cop seen me pull out thought I was drunk and gave me all the test ( I passed but he said he knew I’d been drinking) handcuffed me brought me to jail, impounded my truck When we got to jail he gave me a breathalyzer it was 0.0. I said told you, he said well you was speeding. I said bull shite. He said sign this paper or you’re getting locked up for speeding and resisting also it’s right at Christmas, you will not get out until after the new year. I was leaving for a turnaround after Christmas Day so I signed it

What happens legally in this instance if the homeowner starts shooting?

No warrant, wrong house, entering unlawfully, at night.

I'm shooting. Not saying that it won't most likely end badly for me, but would I go to jail if I survive?

The cops shoot you, and they hope you die, then they control the narrative that they ID'd themselves BEFORE hitting the door and entering the home. You fired at known law enforcement. No body cam footage would be available. You become a nut job citizen because who shoots at cops?

If I was a cop I would serve a no knock warrant.

Edit: this should be wouldn't serve a no knock warrant.

Nobody was injured and nobody is perfect.

Having officers rush into your home unannounced with guns drawn and then cuffing you can be pretty traumatic to a lot of people.

It obviates the point since the error is already demonstrated without any doubt.

There is a difference between an honest error and being negligent. Simply entering the wrong house based on bad information they thought was good information isn't negligence.

Publicly apologizing would be the worst course of action for the taxpayers who will be footing the bill for any civil costs/judgements.

This isn’t the house. This isn’t the house. You told me this was the house. No. I asked you if this is the house. This isn’t the one with the Lexus. We’re just searching all the properties. I asked you if this was the house. He was pointing in the middle. They’re right next to each other. Oh,” officers said

Notice the supervisor points right at the cop's bodycam while glaring at him as he's explaining. "We fricked up, guys, so stop talking!"
