What mission organization?

I know a lot of missionaries who work very minimally. I don't think they intend on being lazy I just think when you have vague performance objectives and you raise your own support there is very little accountability and as long as you don't do anything blatantly unethical nobody checks. What exactly is being a missionary anyway? Why not just share with people in your work place in America?

Also look at how many kids of missionaries go into the same field. It's mostly a racket, you have a few hardships but grade yourself on your performance (usually via monthly newsletter) and about any activity can count towards networking and spreading the word.

Our church congregation has missionaries in many African and South American countries. We have annual missions donation goals whereby members designate the donation to the mission fund. Most of our goals are line itemed needs based. Our church raised enough money to dig and install a deep water well in each of 5 villages within a 40 mile radius to provide a clean water source for the villagers. We also raised money to purchase 5 dirt bikes so our missionaries can have transportation to and from villages instead of walking or riding a bike all over the area.

As far as I know, we don't have anyone living in Europe and taking vacations all over. Our people are just happy to get home once a year and visit friends and family. Tell stories of their experiences and show slides of the area and the people they are ministering to.

they take more vacations than anyone I know. In a 12 month time period, they went to Europe, on a ski trip, and a couple of beach trips. Is this common?

not on 50k

depends on if they are paying any taxes. I bet they are hiding most of it and claiming earned income tax credit. Shoot, they might be making $70,000 a year tax free.

Also, I think they may get their vacations for cheap if they are flexible. They may snatch up last minute deals that working (structured) people cannot do.
