If I was out of town staying in Ellic, then, cool...
If you live there, other than a dinner once a year (at the most, assuming the kitchen is even open), there's a chance you'll never see the inside of that place

Eight hours later and still no Shreveport must-eat’s. I am disappoint. It must truly be the wasteland of casino buffets and Applebee’s I always thought it was.

But it is much better than Alexandria.
It's got a little better small town college thing going on. Other then that.......why? Its proximity to.......Toledo Bend? Kisatchie? Shreveport? Is there more to do? People better? I mean, I like Natchitoches. I really do. But having spent a LOT of time in both places, it's funny that people would rank one that highly over the other. I mean, they're damn near the same fricking thing with Natchitoches being a lot smaller.

Born and raised in Natchitoches. It’s great for a young family, It’s in a good spot geographically, St. Mary’s or NSU ELab would be the way to go as far as school goes. NSU has a tight community with not only employees and faculty, but also alumni. We’re getting a brewery too! Cane River Brewing is being built in an old cotton gin right next to campus. It should open soon. There is plenty to do for a young professional as far as groups do too. Nat. Young Professionals and Jaycees were already mentioned I believe. Take a shot on our town, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for it.

The Shreveport hate is generally given by people who have never been there. Ki Mexico, 2 Johns, Superior Steakhouse (not grill), Marilyn’s Place. Jabez Jabez, etc.

My grandfather used to be Mayor of Natchitoches. My mom’s side of the family has been there since it was a settlement.
Even with all the history there, I hate going. I guess being born and raised in BR has made me more of a city boy than I care to be. I just can’t stay in that small of a town for long.

Thank you Nosaj. I will most certainly remember these next time I pass that way.
Also, congrats on the brewery! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the beers when I’m out!

What sport will you be coaching?

It’s a good, quiet town with a good atmosphere. Great around Christmas time. If it’ll help your career, go for it, it’s only temporary.

Why even have this mentality? What’s the point of moving if you plan on eventually going back to your comfort zone. Make your own life and be happy. People act like it’s such a crazy idea to leave their hometown.

My ancestral home. It has a lot to offer for a small town, but it is kind of a closed society.
It is the kind of place you can fall in love with, for sure.

What does your 4 year old being in school have to do with anything?

I like Natchitoches a lot, simply due to the history and culture. I will say that it is a very small town and the locals are pretty cliquish, so an outsider coming in may have a bit of trouble making friends. Also, the town is so small that you may find yourself missing some services/shopping that you would have in a larger area. That said, you are less than an hour interstate drive to both Shreveport and Alexandria, which can fill that gap.
Hunting and fishing in the area is great and there is a good bit of access to public land.
Property and housing there would likely be relatively expensive due to the historical nature of the town.
I have put down a lot of negatives here...but honestly don't want to discourage you. However, you need to know what you are dealing with.
Finally, I am from cenla and I would move to Natchitoches in a second if I could get a decent job there.

Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is in Natchitoches... I need to go up there and see it if you're a huge sports fan (which being on TD kinda shows that you are)... that should be a monthly visit I imagine
:wat:
I'm a history person... and a sports person... plus a good museum is always changing and evolving so it's never the same thing twice
I could go to the WWII Museum every time I go back home to see the family in NOLA... I could also walk through the Saints Hall of Fame a million times over and never get tired of it
and I would love to go see the LA Sports Hall of Fame... I haven't had the chance to see it yet but I have no doubts that I would love it and want to go back over and over and over again

Should I keep going?
Is Shreveport the greatest? No, but to try and act like Alexandria is better than Shreveport is just laughable.
