Get married first. Some of these places aren't too kind to unmarried couples living together.

Meh, I would just lie and say we were married. No reason for him to trap himself early.

I would if I had the opportunity.

It is just funny to see people writing it off just because it has Muslims. That is hilarious.

Everyone I have ever known that has lived in a Muslim country for more than 2 years hated it. 2 years seems to be the boiling point.

My father used to do a lot of business in KL and Singapore. He loved it. That region is basically an Indonesian and Chinese mix, but they all speak english. I visited my father one time a few years ago in Singapore while he was doing some work there and I loved it. Only bad thing about that area is the heat and humidity. Other than that, it's like an unknown economic paradise part of the world that is also SAFE. I'd recommend watching a few Anthony Bourdain episodes where he visits KL or Singapore to get some insight.

Been to both KL and Singapore. Singapore would be my choice. While KL isn't horrible you still know you are in a country heavily influenced and run by Islam. Not alot of smiling to be honest except for the tourists. Its a pretty place but I certainly wouldn't live there.
