It missed its orbit. I would imagine that it's not going to look so cool soon.

From what I've found, after the final burn to put it on its current trajectory, it was moving about 27000 mph relative to Earth. It was only a few thousand miles off the planet at that point, so for the purposes of this back of the napkin calculation, we'll ignore that due to the velocity it got boosted to. The final burn took place about 9:30P EST last night, so it's been traveling for about 21 or so hours. That should put it somewhere between 500 and 600,000 miles away.
Now, that number's REAL rough, as Earth's gravity started slowing it down again the instant the rocket cut off, and there are a lot of details about its trajectory that make how its speed relative to Earth and the direction it's heading relative to Earth continuously change, but it should be good for an order of magnitude sort of rough estimate.

It's almost certainly well past the moon's orbit by now. The moon takes about 72 hours if you want that to be about as far out as you want to go before you start falling back toward the Earth. They planned the moon missions to take that long so they were already moving pretty slow when they got there to minimize how much their rockets had to further slow them down to get into orbit around the moon. They could have gotten there faster but would have had to burn way more fuel to slow down once they got there which would mean a bigger rocket, which would mean more fuel and a bigger rocket and the tyranny of the rocket equation.
If you're going farther than the moon, though, you've got to be going faster when you leave. New Horizons was moving something like 37,000 mph when it left for Pluto, so it was past the moon's orbit in under 12 hours.

Eh, not necessarily. They delayed the launch for something like three hours, so by the time they lit the thing, the Earth and the launchpad had rotated 45 degrees from when the launch window opened. It's entirely possible that they planned their mission profile to get out to Mars' orbit if they launched early in the window but designed it so that if they launched later, they'd end up lobbing the Tesla farther out, but would still make it as far as they wanted. That way, they'd not have to try to correct on the fly. I'd love to know for sure, though.

Sure, I understand that. But I don't think surviving for "millions of years" is likely. Hell, the international space station has been hit by small meteors in a relatively short time in a much safer earth orbit.
And in a few hundred or thousand years somebody will probably grab it and put it up for auction anyway.
