The TX lower price thingy is easy to figure out... much lower demand = lower prices.
You guys went to school?

ETA: Native Texans buy them shites no matter the prices, which is different from most Louisiana native.

How much is everyone paying per lb for live crawfish right now?
Got a buddy that does his own crawfishing sells his at $80 for a 40 lbs sack. Size varies, but they aren't ridiculously small.

Lent started extremely early (wont be any earlier for another 19 years) this year, so the demand is much higher than normal for this early in the season. I'm not sure how the supply shapes up this year, but it's still early even for a strong crop.
Thats why prices are high.

Could you provide some contact info? I'd be interested in 2-3 sacks on Friday at that price.

I live in Austin as well, how were they? And is there any place to rent pots/burners? TIA
They were surprisingly not bad. I was expecting a bunch of dead ones (which is what I've always heard about Fiesta), and there weren't any more than a normal sack. The size was as expected for Feb, with a few big ones here and there. Honestly, at $2.99 a lb, it was a great value.
I don't know where you can rent a pot. I would just try to borrow one. Just buy a burner. The bayou classic single jet (SP1) is only $44 on Amazon, and it will do the job. You can get a double jet for a little bit more.

I feel like AB Seafood is the cheapest in NOLA and I have called 7 places and none really come close.
