Any kid coming out of a 4-year program wondering whether 55k/year is adequate is fricked to begin with. What did your folks make? Did they go to college? I thought if I got out of school and could hook 30 or 35k, I was blessed. And I ain't that far removed, nor did I get a degree in History or Political Science.

Got a history degree and I wipe my arse with 30k

I lived in a very nice apartment in ATL and Dallas on that income, and never lived on raman either. I saved 10k a year too. Unless you're an idiot, it's super easy to live on 55K per year so long as you aren't in NYC.

Can I ask how many years ago this was?

No, it's not an opinion, it's a fact. You are either 15 or a moron to think that the average college graduate makes 80K their first year after graduating. That's what a fricking chemical engineer makes straight out of college. Accountants make about 50K after graduating. I make a bit higher than that, and I'm currently making more than most of the people I graduated with, most of which are going to make a lot of themselves. You start from somewhere.

I made some bad decisions while I was younger and was forced to leave college with one semester left. I am still close to a double major in Accounting and CIS. I have no desire to go back to school. I've never taken out a student loan. I paid off my tuition with summer jobs and working 40+ hours during the school year. I held a 3.95 GPA and that's including each year, before and after I transferred schools. Even the classes I didn't do well in that were non transferable are being factored into that GPA.

Well, prepare to make that 50K you were making fun of people for making, you stupid a-hole.

I was just shocked that the starting average for a four year degree is anything less than 75k.

That's because you're an idiot.

Slow down, homie. I can't have you losing focus. Stop multitasking and get back to your place in the realm.

You need to get out in the real world, dumbass. If you're making 80K straight out of college, then you're a real baller and got really lucky.

Most don't but there are some that do. I have a few engineering friends that started at right around there.

I'm agreeing with you just saying it's not as impossible as you made it sound
