Text messaging and smart phones. Hate it with a passion. Always have. Motherfrickers can’t call or pick up the phone 30 seconds after they send a text can kiss my arse.
i guess I’m the opposite. I get annoyed when someone calls my phone with no meeting scheduled. I prefer texts, slack, etc but just calling to talk for 5-10 mins randomly during the workdays annoys the shite out of me.

Lol I don’t know why he’s attacking me, all I did was respond just like everyone else did.

You people are the ones that need help. People are so sensitive these days.

I gave you a very calm, sincere answer. And you just repeated your question about me being triggered. I started this thread to point out the fact that I was upset about something that isn’t important in the grand scheme of things.

I am being sincere with you right now. Think about talking to someone.

Being angry about something is a natural reaction. Being able to put your anger into perspective and control it is another thing.

I started this thread because I was angry with myself, took a deep breath, and realized that at the end of the day it wasn’t something to lose my mind over. And I bet others here have experienced the same.

What’s wrong with that?

My job is such that I'll often be working on something for 4-5 hours straight, sometimes for days. I'll get interrupted by meetings, conference calls etc throughout the day though.

Email is just something that I'll try to get to eventually.

Sometimes, when I have too many unread emails over a week or so, I'll just select them all and select marked as read. If it's more than a day old I've probably already talked to them about it or it's not that important.

See, this is my thing. It almost feels entitled for someone to "skip the line" by calling me instead of emailing with what they need. If I stopped every time someone wanted something, I'd never finish anything. I know because my poor boss can't ever work on something without being interrupted 900 times due to calls At least with emails, I can check them when I arrange time for it throughout the day vs. being forced to answer in the middle of something like you do with a call.

Fortunately, I've "trained" most clients to always email. I live 2 hours ahead of them, which most have figured out. The way my job works, I have to really dig deep for whatever someone is calling me about 90% of the time.. so its not something I would do on the phone to begin with. Better to give me the info up front in typed format and let me gather it together for you.

Meant in general with friends, gfs, etc... non-work related.

I don’t mind so much with work, because it’s normally short and to the point.

With friends and especially with girls I’m dating, I’m not having a text discussion over the course of an hour, when I’m busy, about what we’re gonna grill or cook for the weekend when it can be solved in 45 seconds on the phone.

i suppose it’s a much antiquated practice. Maybe will just consider for dressier occasions.

Do your pitts not show sweat on the bare shirt?

If I read all of the emails I get in a given day, it would easily consume more than half of my day and pull me away from projects that have timelines associated with them. I probably get 150 non-spam emails per day.

I’m happy that the OT was able to give you the therapy you obviously needed.

I’m also sorry that me making a tongue in cheek comment about your parents buying the wine glasses set you off.

Now we’re getting to the root of your anger issues.

Are you embarrassed or have some sort of pent up resentment towards your parents?

Let’s talk about it. Something obviously upset you when I mentioned your parents paying for your wine glass.

Honestly, that’s a serious mental somersault you just did.

Seek help.
