I made my share of prank phone calls when it was safe aka pre *69 and Caller ID. Then there was the live call in TV shows on Bay TV Mobile, AL and Pensacola FL. Good times for a twelve year old looking to laugh.

It’s pretty sad how you 40 year old boomers call yourselves “gen x”. Do you think it makes you sound “tubular” bro?

This is probably one of the most accurate I've ever seen. Born in '70 and many friends of mine are younger, some in 20s and mostly 30s. My friend born in 1979 is the youngest with Xer qualities.

I relate to these things in the OP but Xers were already adults here.

I've always wondered how every kid realized to blow in their nes cartridge without the internet telling them it works

Good point.

Probably a combination of seeing their friends do it (when multiplayer meant sitting side by side) and just logically figuring out that metal on metal contacts needs to be clean.

To the downvoters.

Arpanet was dreamed up by a bunch of guys in the late 60s by guys born in the late 30s-40s.

TCP/IP was finetuned in the 70s. The above guys I mentioned started the Usenet stuff at the end of it.

World wide web inventor is Tim Berner-Lee born in 55.

What again is Gen X major contribution on building the internet?

Building businesses through it sure, I'll give us that. But so do little kids on YouTube.

I'm 31 and a millennial and all of those apply to my childhood.

That is why the millennial generation grouping makes no fricking sense and people don't realize that we aren't 20 years old.

Agreed. I post a while back stating as a teenager I remeber us being called Gen Y. Then the true millenials came along. Now we are grouped as the millenials. My point was exactly what you stated.

The only thing that surprised me on this is they made mini keyboards with only ctrl, alt, and del keys.

I'm very bemused here.

What's the point of adding that piece of hardware?
