Cameron/Chloe exit but that would just be inconvenient as hell.

well passing through it OK. you're on a major highway (that connects to 210 right at the northern point of that pick and i10 much further north). that's not a worry

As long as rednecks are in the mobile homes beside the development it should be ok. Rednecks will keep the crack aficionados at bay.

I always just get on the loop by WalMart and go around it unless I have some reason I need to be down 14.

People are pushing further out of the center of LC if anything.
Then this project is going to have serious issues. Rents and property values are up here, forcing the dregs to move out to the East and these areas are better than they have been since I have been alive.
Two completely different cities, with different values on how to live. Nothing wrong with either. Just personal preference.

Honestly, looking at it reminds me of UClub in BR. Add a sewer treatment plant upwind and it describes UClub pretty well.
Spring Lake does provide a little buffer, but that section 8 is coming south every year it seems.

wut?
nola has plenty of affluent (or at least trying) areas outside of the city limits

I think the fact that LC is so easy to navigate through doesn't make it necessary to actually live in LC. That's why the areas like Moss Bluff, Bell City, Lebleu Settlement, Westlake, etc are all growing right now. They are outside the center but they aren't so far out that it makes going to work or McNeese every day a PITA.

Just that a lot of people like the urban style of life here. Having restaurants, bars, grocery stores and other services close.

Just like any other city.

we have a downtown/garden district that is booming and provides that.
going south or to moss bluff typically means getting a new house with modern amenities, a bit yard, and being in a good school district
we still have good public schools in calcasieu parish

Is this in the Lagrange school
District or LCB?
Whoever was talking about oak park was correct. Gorgeous lots and setup (alleyways instead of big garages in front), but the big houses there go for dirt cheap.
What do you think about the Lawtons' development off of sallier? Kind of a mini-mixed use development.

Downtown LC is probably the best example of a lite version of nola LGD gentrification, IMO

Which they have made very accessible in the past few years.

Really good for Louisiana actually. It's why private schools in Lake Charles have never really grown in years.

I think they are supposed to build their own school? Which is the only way this works.
Posted on 10/5/14 at 8:31 pm to SlowFlowPro
There are no shopping or restaurants in Moss Bluff, or Westlake really.
Posted on 10/5/14 at 8:32 pm to southernelite
They will build their own schools but there are also two new magnet schools/academys within 5 miles of it. That isn't necessarily a positive for the development either.

...ehh, not really
Thats what I want to know, that new development off Mcneese St is LaGrange district. Plus all the schools in the parish are busting at the seams, not sure where all these new kids are going to go.

Is the Development off Sallier near the port selling fast? If not, I don't see this thing taking off.
