Chik fil A and Taco Casa are the only two fast food joints I eat at and that is very seldom. Did have the Casa today because I was passing through TTown. Got to do it.

Izzo's cheese & black bean/cilantro rice quesadilla when I'm in a pinch. Subway once every 3-4 months.
I don't really consider these places fast food, even though their food comes out fast.

You should check out Penn & Tellers show about the fast food myth. They did control groups where the people thought they were eating something from a nice restaurant ( that's what they were told) but it was just upper price range fast food like a taco salad from Taco Bell. They just put it on a nice plate and all the people had very positive comments about the taste and freshness of the ingredients, etc.. The next day they were given the exact same thing but were told it was a fast food menu item and it was packaged in fast food containers. To a person, they all gave negative comments. It was the exact same thing.

Incidentally, Carl's Jr deluxe cheeseburger was one of the items used in the experiment. They all said it was the bomb when they thought it was from a gourmet burger restaurant. They said it was just edible when they thought it was fast food. Same people, same burger.

They dispelled several myths based solely on bias in that episode.

Imo, fast food is like a lot of things: unhealthy if you overindulge but fine if you just have some every now and then.

I eat fast food once or twice a month when I'm not traveling. But when I am on a road trip it is just the quickest and most convenient thing so I will have it a few times. I enjoy Popeyes, Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell. McDonald's is okay for breakfast. I like chipotle and Zaxby's but don't consider those fast food.

Fast food is like lost things. Moderation is key.

I'll get fast food once a month or so. And I'll once in a while her my kid a happy meal or something after a ballgame.

But it's not something we would ever get daily or even weekly.

never ever
I'll skip that meal before I eat fast food
doesn't mean I always eat healthy but at least the garbage I do eat is freshly prepared if I can help it

Fast food isn't really cheap anymore. There so many other quality options for the same price. I'm amazed that they're still around honestly.

Curious what the purpose of the distinction is. Is it about the quality of the food in terms of its nutritional value (ignoring number of calories) or taste, or both?

I have to be drunk as shite to eat drive thru style fast food, and it's usually taco bell or whataburger. The closest that I come to it when sober is Izzo's or Jimmy Johns.
