I had one hit me middle of the night on a Friday night. Finally Sunday a friend of mine had a leftover pain pill to get me until Monday, but that was the worst weekend of my life.

Always keep a solid supply of fish mox on hand for these types of crisis.

If you're into snake oil home remedies look up MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution). Great for emergencies, I've knocked out an an abscess and a sore throat with a quickness.

Thank you. Because of this thread and my huge fear of dental pain, I will finally make an overdue appointment with my dentist tomorrow.

You're not fooling anybody with your "abcess" story, dope fiend.

My abscess pushed my tooth out of the socket.
I had the same thing happen...the only thing I have had that was more painful was a kidney stone.

Nothing disperses in the mind all petty, trivial, and superficial concerns and reduces all notions of self importance, bravado, and ego mania to insignificance like a toothache.
Clove oil applied liberally if you have it and the defect is accessible will bring significant relief.
Prayers and best wishes.

Oh dear God. I had what I "thought" was a bad one a few months ago, but it wasn't nearly that bad. After a day of warm salt water gargling, I was able to lance it myself. It felt a million times better immediately. The pus oozing out of that thing in my mouth was one of the grossest things ever, especially combined with the terrible smell that it produced

Interesting...I will have to remember that

What a brilliant description. I just fell asleep and woke up after an hour with the pain at nine. I took a hydrocodone and it’s calmed . Jesus the pain. It just focuses you , makes you almost panicky. I’m reminding myself to be grateful for the pain. Dead people don’t feel pain.
I got a root canal a year ago. This is an abcess at the site of that root canal way down as far away from the crown as you can get. The endodontist saw me immediately and walked me through the options earlier- very good care. The plan is to wait until the antibiotics tamp down the infection and either try again with a new root canal or remove it. I favor removing at this point because it’s the last tooth .

Yep, exactly what happened to me. Remove it and get a permanent implant.

A friend of mine had a abscessed tooth a few years ago. He said the pain was so bad he actually popped it himself. Pain went away and never bothered him again

quote:Always worked for me until I wake up at 3 and have a headache from dehydration and the tooth pain continues. Double whammy
step 1 - take a shot of whiskey
step 2 - wait 1 minute for it to take affect, if needed repeat step 1
continue until pain goes away or you no longer feel anything

Congrats on the bad hygiene and substance abuse problem.

Sorry bro.
Never had an abscess, but I’ve had a couple get close ahead of root canal and frick that noise.

You have to drink whisky with the pain pills to get the full effect

Hang in there brother, it'll get better.
