I had one hit me middle of the night on a Friday night. Finally Sunday a friend of mine had a leftover pain pill to get me until Monday, but that was the worst weekend of my life.

If you're into snake oil home remedies look up MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution). Great for emergencies, I've knocked out an an abscess and a sore throat with a quickness.

Thank you. Because of this thread and my huge fear of dental pain, I will finally make an overdue appointment with my dentist tomorrow.

You're not fooling anybody with your "abcess" story, dope fiend.

I had the same thing happen...the only thing I have had that was more painful was a kidney stone.

Nothing disperses in the mind all petty, trivial, and superficial concerns and reduces all notions of self importance, bravado, and ego mania to insignificance like a toothache.

Clove oil applied liberally if you have it and the defect is accessible will bring significant relief.

Prayers and best wishes.

Oh dear God. I had what I "thought" was a bad one a few months ago, but it wasn't nearly that bad. After a day of warm salt water gargling, I was able to lance it myself. It felt a million times better immediately. The pus oozing out of that thing in my mouth was one of the grossest things ever, especially combined with the terrible smell that it produced

What a brilliant description. I just fell asleep and woke up after an hour with the pain at nine. I took a hydrocodone and it’s calmed . Jesus the pain. It just focuses you , makes you almost panicky. I’m reminding myself to be grateful for the pain. Dead people don’t feel pain.

I got a root canal a year ago. This is an abcess at the site of that root canal way down as far away from the crown as you can get. The endodontist saw me immediately and walked me through the options earlier- very good care. The plan is to wait until the antibiotics tamp down the infection and either try again with a new root canal or remove it. I favor removing at this point because it’s the last tooth .

Yep, exactly what happened to me. Remove it and get a permanent implant.

A friend of mine had a abscessed tooth a few years ago. He said the pain was so bad he actually popped it himself. Pain went away and never bothered him again

Always worked for me until I wake up at 3 and have a headache from dehydration and the tooth pain continues. Double whammy

Laughed out loud. Sig quote worthy and I'm going to ask my wife to needlepoint it.

This happened to my wife about two years ago. It was absolutely amazing the amount of discharge under pressure that flowed when the doc opened it up. Poor girl. She threw a fit and insisted I remain during the entire procedure. She was quite persuasive, bless her heart.

Hang in there brother, it'll get better.
