Yeah I can remember going roller skating at the regular Leo's and always looking over at the ice rink wishing it would open one day.

Yep! Every time. I think we asked the guy about when it was going to open every time too.

We use to frequent the roller rink in the 80's and it opened occasionally. But man my sister and I stayed at Leo's. I think she even raced for the Leo's speed team. I loved the paper bag tag. Can you imagine any place doing that now?

I’m sad too-what a great place. Someone needs to keep it going.

I remember going roller skating at the old Leo’s off North Street as a kid.

How does a business last for 70 years in this town and then close? Every time we go it's packed. My kids are sad.

I went every Sunday from like 10yrs old till my mid teens. I used to do back flips on skates and always raced the boys because the girls were too slow. Mr. Perry (Leo's son, I believe) was always so nice.

My car got stolen in 2011, and I was pissed because my speed skates got taken. I love skating.

"No scratching, biting, or hair pulling!" he always said for the girls races.

His dad (Leo) fell off a ladder during Andrew and was hurt pretty bad.

The ice skating rink didn't open until I was in high school or college. My sister learned to ice skate there, but she was born in 1997.

If you turn left off of N Foster to North Street, it was ,about a block on the left before you get to the grave yard on the right. It was a reddish orangish building. I want to say it’s still standing, but not sure.

Across from Roselawn Cemetery. Off of S. Foster. It is still there. I hated the wooden floors. Leo's was probably the best skating rink in the country (the newer one).

Same here. I remember this elderly couple would come in both looking like they could barely cross the street without taking a break, but once they got those skates on and took to the floor, they were Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers on wheels.
People would kindly get out of their way or just go off to the side and watch. I've come to realize what joy these two had with such a simple pleasure and the sadness that must have overtaken them when they couldn't do it anymore.
Hopefully, someone will fill the void left by the closing of this business and to you Perry, you and your family did well.

I almost asked after I did the math real quick. Hard to believe someone born in 1997 is legal
