Do Catholics consider alligator meat seafood?
The last thing you want to do is call a Priest and ask. Make sure you don't do that.

Interesting. Now days fried Catfish and boiled crawfish is expensive and commonly associated with celebrations

Yea I feel like nowadays a burger on Friday would be more of a sacrifice.

Once it became boiling a sack of crawfish with your friends and knocking down beers, I bailed on the whole no meat on Friday thing. I don’t need a designated day to do that.

Plenty of sacrifices to pick from that stuffing your face with a dozen boiled crabs.

I do like how "giving up meat for lent" allows you to eat gobs of crab legs.

Yes it is. Abstinence and fasting is a precept of the Church. See article 2043 of the Catechism. The precepts of the church are not voluntary. As a cradle Catholic you should know that. Eating meat on Friday during Lent would be a mortal sin and you would need to go to confession. This is because it is required that Catholics abstain from meat.

Wrong, eating meat on Friday during Lent is a mortal sin for a Catholic.

I really hope this is a troll. If not then it’s people like you why I left the Catholic Church. Catholic take their abstinence of meat during Lent way to fricking serious

Eating meat on Friday during Lent is a mortal sin? Like if you die before confession you will go to purgatory or hell? I thought mortal sins were like murder, stealing like thousands of dollars or something very valuable or like starting fires.

It is a precept of the Church along with taking communion once a year, attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days, going to Confession, fasting and abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent. There are practices that you have to follow if you are a practicing Catholic. A mortal sin requires a grave matter, full consent of the will and knowing that you were committing the sin. Yes if you died before going to Confession you would go to he'll, not Purgatory.

So I can eat $100 worth of crawfish as a sacrifice and be done, but if I take 3 minutes to eat a ham sandwich I'm going to hell? Got it.

Catholics are so fricking weird. You do this shite and you idylize the Pope who half the time is the most corrupt person in the world

He’s lying to you. The Church does not teach that eating meat during lent is a sin.

ETA: ironically, lying is considered a sin.

You are an ill informed old man, that doesn’t understand the teachings of The Church. You are just as bad as church leaders that abuse their power and intentionally mislead others for your own selfish reasons. .

That’s exactly your problem; you believe what you want, and not what God wants you to believe.
