That's my question. Not in the way you think though. My wife is a teacher in Bienville Parish. She does not pay into the SS system nor does she get paid parental leave. She is pregnant and was told when her sick days run out she will still be covered by FMLA for her job, but she will not be paid.

Through what avenue? I think in their situation it’s use her sick leave, then FMLA which isn’t paid — only a job protecting measure.
My wife paid into a short term disability policy before we had our baby. So when the leave ran out, the policy kicked in simultaneously with FMLA.
Other than that, there was nothing that provided paid time once her sick leave was out.

What about governmental workers that don't pay into SS?
Just as an fyi, govt workers pay into SS and have done so since the 80s.

Can I take the money and still go to work? Figure SS won’t be there when I’m of retirement age and I likely die first or won’t retire so might as well get it back when I’m young and have my first kid

Not reading the thread to see if already posted.
How about letting me withdraw all my money today and refuse to pay another cent into this fricking ponzi scheme.
They threw Bernie Madoff in prison for the same shite our government does.
frick them.

id imagine it would also apply

then it doesn't apply to them
